Anderson dreaming of following Shearer and Carrick's Geordie route
Daily Express
|September 05, 2025
ELLIOT ANDERSON is on the cusp of walking in the footsteps of some giants of English football.
But he wants to go one better than Alan Shearer & Co — by helping the Three Lions conquer the world.
Anderson is hoping to become the latest product of Newcastle’sWallsend Boys Club to make his England debut when Thomas Tuchel’s men face Andorra in tomorrow’s World Cup qualifier.
He would then join a list that includes legends such as Shearer, Peter Beardsley and Michael Carrick, who all came off the Wallsend production line to reach the top of the game.
But none of the above went on to win a World Cup with the Three Lions.
And having helped the Under-21s win the European Championship this summer, Anderson admits he has a taste for success and wants to go on and land the biggest trophy of all next summer.
