Ammo and eco drive is 'set to fail'

CHANCELLOR Rachel Reeves’s pledge to deliver “growth in every part of the UK” has been challenged after she funnelled billions into “net zero” policies.

Experts warned the focus on green issues and defence in last week’s spending review could not provide the economic boost the nation needed.

Ms Reeves announced a huge boost in investment, up from £131.3billion in 2025-26 to £151.9bn in 2029-30, up 1.8% a year.

But Helen Miller, deputy director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies, told MPs: “Warm homes and ammunition — that’s not where you put your money if you want to create growth.”
