ONE of the few TV ads that make me smile these days is the one for Cinch, the used car people, featuring Rylan Clark and mum Linda.

"You know you're everywhere?" Linda reminds her boy, poking fun at the fact he's forever on TV. It's funny for the simple fact that it's true: Rylan has indeed been a near-constant on-screen presence in recent years. But actually, the joke's not quite as good as it used to be. First, because I've seen the ad too many times. And second, because Rylan is no longer top of the table in that regard. Way out in front these days in the Never-Off-Our-Blooming-Tellies League, having opened up a points gap that may well prove unassailable, is of course Alison Hammond.
