A longer life comes with shock price for nursing home care

Families face a massive shock when they discover the true cost residential nursing home care, which now averages a massive £66,500 annually.

It's a huge burden that quickly depletes pensions, savings and inheritances, but one in four people assumes the cost is half that, the Just Group Care Report 2025 found.

Millions of families are sleepwalking into a nasty shock as a result, said Just's Group communications director Stephen Lowe.

"Our annual care report repeatedly shows that people are unprepared for the true cost when they come to help loved ones find a residential home."
