£43k payout for police officer who cannot work in the cold

A POLICE officer “ambushed” by her boss because she cannot work in cold weather for health reasons has won £43,000 compensation.

PC Denise Gemmell was victimised by Inspector Stephen Gow, a tribunal judge ruled, after he questioned her interpretation of “inclement weather”.

Judge Peter O’Donnell also said there was a “degree of vindictiveness” when he told her that colleagues did not like or want to work with her — and she was not good at her job.
