THOUSANDS marked the summer solstice at Stonehenge yesterday as forecasters warned more 40C sizzlers could occur.
Around 8,000 revellers celebrated the longest day of the year at the prehistoric monument on Salisbury Plain, Wilts.
Constable Catherine Roper, who helped police the event, said: "This was my first solstice and I have to say, what an incredible event it has been.
"I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended, our communities and the visitors to the site.
