Rain ruins Mids victory hopes at Chessington

Croydon Advertiser

|

June 13, 2025

AN ominous Saturday approached as Trinity Mid-whiftgiftian arrived at the Chessington ground.

Back to winning ways with the toss and they opted to go into the field. Matt Winter began the proceedings with an early wicket of Jimmy Woolman, who shouldered arms to a swinging ball down the leg side that was given plumb in front.

Tight bowling ensued as Ben Ives (1-21) and Winter (2-18) bowled tightly for a thrilling opening exchange. As early wickets fell a small counter attack from Chessington's number four quickly took their run rate from one an over to two.
