Mayor backs plan for 569 new flats

CROYDON’S Mayor has thrown his support behind plans to build 569 new flats on the vacant office building site in the heart of East Croydon.
This followed the recent purchase of the former City Link site by Cheyne Capital for £210m.
The vacant office building sits next to the iconic No.1 Croydon building and faces busy East Croydon station.
Planning permission has previously been granted to build 485 “co-living units” and 84 affordable homes in a 28-storey tower and a 14-storey block.
Cheyne’s purchase of the site and commitment to redeveloping the vacant site attracted the praise of Mayor Jason Perry yesterday.
On X, he said: “Fantastic to see this significant £210 million investment in Croydon by Cheyne Capital.
