Parking charges on the rise with tariffs now added for Sundays

NEW parking charges are now in force at many council-owned car parks.

Cheshire East Council is extending charges by four hours to cover the period of 8am until 10pm at car parks in the likes of Audlem, Alsager, Congleton, Crewe, Nantwich and Sandbach.

Drivers will also now have to pay on a Sunday - with the charge based on the weekday tariffs for each car park.

A new tariff band is being introduced to allow motorists to purchase parking for up to 14 hours and there will be an increase in some parking charges and permits.

The council says this reflects the tariffs charged by similar authorities. As an example, low tariff bands will see an increase of 10 pence per hour.
