CONSTRUCTION is underway on a new cycleway through Juniper Park in Coventry, forming part of the wider Eastern Green development.

- By CLAIRE ELIOT

Coventry City Council says the project - which includes hundreds of new homes and commercial units - is “making good progress”.

The scheme will feature a 3m-wide cycle track alongside a 2m pedestrian path, creating safer, greener routes across the area. Kerbing work between Parkhill Drive and Woodridge Avenue has already been completed, with the final stretch near the development boundary now surfaced.

Drainage upgrades have also been carried out, and the council has confirmed that existing trees will remain in place. The current crossing on Woodridge Avenue will also be improved as part of the works.

Project manager Alice Bright said: “We have got a lot of stuff going on at the moment, namely a new pedestrian and cycle route through Juniper Park, which is going to be a 3m cycle track and a 2m pedestrian route. It is going to massively improve this area and allow for more accessible travel.”
