Spare hopes for another champ as Min gets set
Coventry Telegraph
|September 03, 2025
THIS month could be another memorable one in the boxing career of Lee Spare.
Spare is head coach at The Boxing Clever Academy gym in Nuneaton and they could have another champion crowned in September.
Ashlee Eales became the first to bring a professional boxing belt back to the gym and Minaaz Gurung gets his shot in Cannock on Saturday, September 13.
The 23-year-old meets Joe Underwood Hughes for the vacant Midlands Area super-lightweight championship at Chase Leisure Centre.
In Gurung's corner will be Spare.
He has coached Gurung from the start of his amateur boxing career when he was "14 or 15" years old and has steered him through 22 amateur bouts and five wins in the professional ring.
Spare has a wealth of experience to pass on having boxed at a top level during his 50-bout amateur career.
The 50-year-old remembered: "I started kung fu when I was a kid, about nine years old.
