Old pics show importance of much loved city college

HISTORIC images found in the Coventry Telegraph archives show how much of an educational institution Henley College has been for six decades.

The site was destroyed by a fire this week, four years after Coventry College decided to close the campus back in 2021.

But the horrendous fire has led to a wave of nostalgia among Coventrians who attended the college through the years, many contacting us with their memories or sharing them in comments on social media.

One element mentioned again and again is the college's legendary catering course and restaurant.

Courses like this show why the college was so popular, with students learning real life practical skills in educational settings that would prepare them for working life.
