No perfect ending for Bards as Harborough earn play-off spot

STRATFORD Town's eventful week ended in disappointment as they were held to a 2-2 draw at St Ives Town which meant missing out on the Southern League Premier Central play-offs.

It transpired that not even a victory would have been enough, though, with rivals Harborough Town also winning to seal the fifth and final play-off place.

The Bards were ordered to replay their abandoned Easter Monday match with Alvechurch on Thursday evening and tired legs took their toll as Paul Davis’ side let a two-goal lead slip.

Charlie Williams opened the scoring from the penalty spot before half-time and then struck again early in the second period to take his tally to five in two games.
