THE UK is set for a nationwide emergency alert trial next weekend, with every mobile phone across the country poised to emit a loud siren simultaneously.

Every device connected to 4G or 5G networks will produce the shrill noise as part of the first test of the emergency system since 2023, with alarms ringing for up to 10 seconds to assess the nation's readiness for major catastrophes.
Britons can anticipate the exercise to commence exactly at 3pm on Sunday, September 7, with mobiles also expected to vibrate as a text message arrives clarifying that the alert is simply a practice run.
