'STANDOUT' SHOW AFTER REPLACING RUDONI

FRANK Lampard picked out Josh Eccles for a “standout” mention amongst his impressive Coventry City performers against West Midland rivals Birmingham City.

The Sky Blues Academy graduate and homegrown talent was tasked with filling the substantial boots of the injured Jack Rudoni in the big local derby at the CBS Arena, and the 25-year-old rose to that challenge with an impressive display and assist for the own goal that handed City a 2-0 advantage over Blues.

Eccles’ contribution was all the more impressive given that he was deployed out of his more natural central midfield role in a more attacking number ten position, and for the fact that he’s only just returned from almost four months out injured.
