Coventry Boys and Girls Club (CBGC) has been shortlisted for Outstanding Community Project in the The Police and Crime Commissioner's Outstanding Citizens' Awards.

The group's 'the MAC Project' has been winning admirers thanks to its efforts working with 10-19-year-olds, offering crime diversion and prevention programmes, as well as reparation and community service opportunities.

Launched in 2020, the MAC Project delivers holistic, tailored programmes designed to help young people overcome complex challenges, including mental health struggles, peer pressure, inequality, family breakdown, and youth violence.

Since its launch, the MAC Project has received 299 referrals from schools, Probation, and Youth Offending Services for one-to-one mentoring sessions. In the past twelve months alone, it has received 80 referrals, working with 11 schools across the city. In addition to 1-2-1 mentoring, the MAC Project has also been commissioned by West Midlands Police to deliver targeted group sessions in schools facing concerns about external influences affecting their pupils.
