Council must sever financial ties to Israeli military firm

WAS grateful for Lee Trewhela’s coverage of previous leader of Cornwall Council Linda Taylor's attempt to deny the council’s ongoing complicity in the genocide being enacted in Gaza.

Finally responding to multiple and repeatedly refused public questions on this issue, the outgoing leader used the council’s final full sitting to reject those questions’ well-founded and -referenced documentation of its complicity, as if simply ignoring the facts will make them go away.

It will not. As the new council is now sworn in the chair of its Economic Forum, Lord John Hutton, continues to hold a directorship of a UK military supplier wholly owned by the Israeli state-owned weapons manufacturer Rafael. The council's pension investments still include a substantial stake in companies directly linked to supplying and equipping the Israel Defence Force.
