THE Great Cornish Food Academy has provided thousands of people with hands-on experience in food, drink, farming and fishing during its first year.
-
Established last summer to promote careers in the sector, it has given more than 3,000 students an insight into the fishing industry and developed the farming and food preparation skills of 100 more.
Seventy Cornwall and Isles of Scilly food and drink firms have received assistance in developing their businesses and 130 people working in the sector have taken part in training.
The academy is located at the premises of the Great Cornish Food Store in Truro.
Learning and skills manager Emma Pate said: “We've set out to showcase the brilliant variety of opportunities and earnings potential across the agrifood sector and it's been a busy and successful first year.
