Women's basketball tripped up in NAC title game

Maine Maritime Academy’s women’s basketball season came to a sudden end on March 1, falling in the North Atlantic Conference Championship Game to the SUNY-Cobleskill Fighting Tigers 55-53.

This was a rematch of the 2024 NAC title game, which MMA won at home thanks to a furious fourth quarter rally. Cobleskill was the host for the 2025 tilt, and the boisterous home crowd was treated to a thriller.

The game was tightly contested from the opening jump, with the teams trading the lead through the first two-and-a-half quarters. But with MMA holding a 40-34 lead late in the third quarter, momentum shifted Cobleskill’s way. A 17-3 run spanning six minutes over the third and fourth quarters proved to be the difference, as suddenly the Mariners’ six-point lead turned into an eight-point deficit.
