JAMES Bowen has struck up a fine partnership with Warren Greatrex’s young chaser Village Master during the last year.
The grey won the 2m5f chase at Stratford on Saturday to make it seven wins from nine starts over fences, five of them with Bowen on board.
During this race he was clearly outpaced at times. However, Bowen stoked Village Master up to join the leaders three fences out and again approaching the last, over which he landed in front.
From there he fended off his chief rival, who was carrying a stone less.
