Vhembe communities celebrate Africa Day

THE Premier, Dr Phophi Ramathuba addressed the community of Vhembe at the George Phadagi Community Hall in Thohoyandou during Africa Day commemorations on Sunday.

She reflected on the significance of celebrating this day in the Thulamela Local Municipality, which was named after an important archaeological site rich in Iron Age history and cultural heritage.

“This land once sparkled with gold and iron. It echoes with the voices of ancient kings, queens, merchants and storytellers who carved the African identity into its very soil,” she said.

This year’s Africa Day was observed under the theme, “Building the Africa We Want Through Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability’.
