LIMPOPO has recorded a 20% reduction in murder cases during the second quarter of the 2025/26 year, provincial police commissioner Lt Gen Thembi Hadebe announced on Friday.

The announcement was made during a joint briefing with the MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Violet Mathye in Polokwane.

The statistics, covering the period from April 1-September 30 show Limpopo’s murder rate at 3.2 per 100 000, which is among the lowest in the country. The improvement is attributed to intensified operations such as Operation Shanela (Kukula) and strengthened community-police partnerships.
