Gearing up for Armed Forces Day
Capricorn Review
|February 11, 2026
THE Thulamela Local Municipality says it is ready to host the 2026 National Armed Forces Day (NAFD) in Thohoyandou, scheduled for February 21, positioning the event as both a national commemoration and a boost for local tourism and economic activity.
Mayor Athongozwidivha Rambuda made the announcement during a media briefing held on February 4 at the Thulamela Library Hall, alongside SANDF Chief General Rudzani Maphwanya and senior military officials.
The main celebrations will take place near Thavhani Mall along the R524 Punda Maria Road.
Rambuda said the municipality was honoured to host the national event and would use the opportunity to showcase Thulamela's cultural heritage, scenic landscapes and development ambitions.
“We offer a warm and hospitable welcome to visitors. This event supports our vision of becoming a premier, sustainable tourist and agricultural hub, targeting city status by 2030,” she said.
