COMMUNITIES from several rural villages under the Tshikonelo Tribal Authority are finally experiencing relief after enduring extended water shortages.

- SILAS NDUVHENI

The Vhembe District Municipality recently drilled two boreholes and installed supporting infrastructure, including a transformer, water reticulation connected to an existing 450-kilolitre steel tank, and a newly built 350-kiloliter concrete tank.

For residents of villages such as Phalathonga, Tshiawelo, Hamadadzhe and Mauluma, the official handover of the two boreholes on June 6 marked a long-awaited moment when clean water from taps has become a reality after years of relying on unsafe sources and living in constant water scarcity.
