: Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu revealed that the grain procurement process in the district is going on smoothly without any hitches.

Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Tummala Nageswar Rao and Ponnam Prabhakar, along with Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao and Civil Supplies Commissioner D.S. Chauhan, held a review with district collectors, additional collectors ,civil supplies department officials through video conference on Friday.

On this occasion, Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu briefed the ministers about the status of grain procurement in Nizamabad district. He said that paddy has been cultivated in 4.91 lakh acres in the district, and about 12 lakh metric tons of grain have been produced. Accordingly, he said that the target of collecting 8 lakh metric tons of grain has been set for this season, and so far 7.92 lakh metric tons of grain have been collected through more than 700 procurement centers.

He said that by the last week of May, another 35 thousand to 40 thousand metric tons of grain are likely to reach the procurement centers beyond the target. He said that the procurement of grain has been completed 100 percent in 460 centers out of 700 grain procurement centers, and currently purchases are being made through 260 centers. The value of grain collected so far is Rs. 1839 crore, and the bill amounts of Rs. 1548 crore have been deposited in the accounts of the farmers.
