The Congress today said its proposed September 15 meeting at Kamareddy to celebrate the Telangana Legislative Assembly's resolution facilitating the implementation of a 42 per cent job quota for the backward classes would be historic and send a significant message to the Centre.

The state Legislature recently passed a resolution lifting the 50 per cent ceiling on reservations, which paved the way for increading reservations for the backward classes in the local bodies.

A preparatory meeting for the rally was held during the day in Kamareddy under the chairmanship of TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud.

The meeting was attended by Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Seethakka, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Vakiti Srihari, Government Advisor Shabbir Ali, DCC Presidents, MPs, MLAs and other senior leaders.
