A Life of Truth and Sacrifice: Remembering Venkataramanaiah

Muchukota Venkataramanayya was born on June 1, 1901, in Muchukota village of Tadipatri taluka, to Lakshmamma and Thirumalayayya, in a devout Sri Vaishnava family. He lost his mother at a young age and was lovingly raised by Talari Balamma and Erappa. Even in his childhood, Venkataramanayya exhibited progressive thinking. He began his life as a child laborer in the Soap stone mine, but with a strong determination to change his destiny through education, he completed a teacher training course by 1920.

In 1921, he transformed his home into a school and inspired many to join the freedom movement. As a teacher, he actively engaged with fellow progressives and contributed both directly and indirectly to the national struggle. He identified ignorance, untouchability, and superstition as major impediments to societal progress and dedicated himself to eradicating them.
