Texas floods: a tragedy unfolds

DEADLY flash flooding in the southern US state of Texas has claimed the lives of 32 people and left at least 27 missing, after torrential rains caused the Guadalupe River to overflow its banks, local officials have confirmed.

At least 25cm of rain fell in central Kerr County early last week, triggering rapid flash ood: along the Guadalupe River.
Search and rescue teams have been working through the night, racing to locate those stranded or swept away by the rising waters.
At least 43 people, including 15 children, have been confirmed dead in Kerr County.
Another three people were reported dead and two are still missing in Burnet County.
Four people were confirmed dead and at least 13 missing in Travis County.
