Taxi industry rocked by more killings

POLICE have launched a manhunt for the gunmen behind the killing of members of the Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association (Cata) in separate incidents within hours of each other this week.

In one of the attacks, a taxi driver was ambushed while transporting three passengers in his Toyota Quantum on Robert Sobukwe Drive near Valhalla Park yesterday.

He sustained a gunshot wound to the head and died at the scene. His three female passengers, aged 31, 38, and 45, were wounded and rushed to the hospital.

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed that the taxi was impounded for ballistics and further forensic processing.
