SOUTH Africa’s United Rugby Championship (URC) teams this weekend will play a last round of fixtures before a month’ break in the competition, and we note that our teams are on a healthy upward trajectory.

The URC runs for nine months, from September to May. At just over the halfway mark, the combined position of the Lions, Sharks, Stormers, and Bulls is the best it has been since South Africa joined the European tournament for the 2021-2022 season.
Last week’s away wins for the Bulls and the Sharks, and the three points earned by the Lions in their match in Wales, mean the four teams could all find themselves in the coveted top eight of the 16-team tournament after this weekend’s round of fixtures.
