THE inclusion of billionaire businessman Johan Rupert in President Cyril Ramaphosa’s delegation to meet US President Donald Trump yesterday represents the capture of democracy by wealthy elites and undermines the sovereignty of both countries, says the EFF.

“Rupert and Elon Musk, both racist capitalists, have no mandate to influence South Africa’s laws or policies. The EFF warns against any backroom deals that threaten land reform, economic justice and national independence. Parliament, not billionaires, must determine our country’s future,” the party said in a statement yesterday.
Their remarks follow after confirmation that Rupert, professional golfers Ernie Else and Retief Goosen were to join the ministers accompanying Ramaphosa to meet with Trump.
It was said the three were seen as key in dispelling Trump's narrative that there was a genocide of white Afrikaners in South Africa.
