'Suitcase killers' duo convicted, co-accused on the run

FIVE years after a businessman's charred remains were found in a suitcase at a Cape Town train station, justice has finally been served for two of the three “Suitcase Killers”, who were found guilty for their role in the crime.

But in a dramatic twist, the third suspect disappeared before the court could deliver its judgment.

Previn Pillay, 23, from Pinelands, was last seen on December 23, 2020 leaving his home in his white Toyota Hilux bakkie. The bumper of the vehicle was later recovered in Sunbird Park, but the bakkie itself was never found.

A week after his disappearance, the police were called to Hazendal Train Station in Athlone where a suitcase containing a dismembered body was discovered.
