SAPS gets boost with re-enlistment of detectives

WESTERN Cape Premier Alan Winde and MEC for Police Oversight and Community Safety, Anroux Marais welcomed the reenlistment of 62 experienced detectives into the SAPS.
Winde called this boost to investigative capacity “long overdue”. He urged the minister of police and national SAPS to provide necessary resources and to urgently expand the local government’ investigative powers.
“This boost to the investigative capacity of the SAPS is long overdue and must translate into successful prosecutions, especially in significantly weakening organised crime and gangsterism,” he said.
