Matric candidates urged to understand exam rules before they write

WITH just three weeks until the 2025 matric exams, candidates are urged to understand the rules.
Learners sign a matric pledge to study diligently and report rule violations, and a commitment agreement detailing the rules. Infringements can lead to nullified results, exclusion from future exams, and even criminal prosecution for exam paper leaks.
Last year, 19 candidates were disqualified for bringing notes or cellphones into the exam room.
Western Cape Education MEC David Maynier said: “There are just three weeks to go to the start of the matric exams, and we appeal to candidates to make sure they are familiar with the rules of the exams.
