EYNESBURY Rovers' defence of the KO Cup ended at UCL Premier Division North side Kimberley Miners Welfare after a 3-2 defeat in a match that wasn't without its controversies.

In the first minute of the match, played at Ilkeston Town, Tom Hilton put in a reckless challenge on Victor Osobu that had the Rovers bench demanding a red card but the culprit was shown a yellow.

Even more controversial was the disallowed goal that would have drew Rovers level at 2-2. A Harry Hurst cross was dropped by Ed Cooper in the hosts goal and Luke Young duly prodded home the loose ball. However, as the goalkeeper suffered a head injury which ended with him having to leave the field the referee decided not to allow the goal.
