BOSS CURETON FELT HIS LILYWHITES COULD HAVE FINISHED HIGHER

- By STEPHEN PAGE

CAMBRIDGE City boss Jamie Cureton has reflected on a “satisfactory” first season in charge after his side recorded an 11th-placed finish in the Isthmian League North this term.

The Lilywhites narrowly registered a top-half finish this year, with their 60 points picked up from 42 matches played leaving them 16 points adrift of the play-offs and 18 points clear of the drop zone.

Cureton, who was appointed as manager last May, would have liked for his side to have finished a few places higher in the table, but said: "I think, overall, the target was to stay away from trouble, which we obviously managed to do.

"I think we gave the club some good moments throughout the season, and not too many bad ones. I would say it’s satisfactory, but I'm one that would always want to push on and do better.
