PHA pushes for national-local alignment for heart health

THE PHILIPPINE HEART ASSOCIATION (PHA) 55th PHA Annual Convention and Scientific Meeting opened this year’s Advocacy Hour with a call to push for stronger, policy-backed efforts in heart health, particularly bridging grassroots heart health programs with national health policies.

“Today, we take a vital step forward—not just in treating cardiovascular diseases, but in shaping the systems that prevent them,” said PHA Director Ill and Advocacy Chair Dr. Avenilo “Jun” Aventura.
Dr. Carolyn Narvacan-Montano, a board member of the Philippine Association for the Study of Overweight and Obesity, stressed that rising obesity prevalence among children should be a concern of the government, parents, and doctors as obese children are more likely to become obese adults.
