FM Launches Digital Footprint-Based Credit Assessment Model for MSMEs

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday launched the New Credit Assessment Model based on the digital footprints of MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises) at a post-Budget interaction at Visakhapatnam.
The finance minister had in her Union Budget 2024-25 speech announced that public sector banks (PSBs) will build their in-house capability to assess MSMEs for credit, instead of relying on external assessment. PSBs will develop a new credit assessment model, based on the scoring of digital footprints of MSMEs in the economy.
