DPWH goes hi-tech to future-proof infra

SHIFTING away from temporary fixes, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is adopting high-tech engineering to future-proof the nation's infrastructure.

In a press briefing, Public Works Secretary Vivencio Dizon told reporters that the organization is veering away from "band aid" solutions to create pedestrian-centric thoroughfares that prioritize the safety and mobility of millions of Filipinos.

"This will cover the rehabilitation of the iconic Epifanio delos Santos Avenue [Edsa] to the 'reengineering' of flood control systems and other major infrastructure projects." We are laying out an ambitious roadmap targeting completion for several key phases by June 2027," Dizon told reporters at the Kapihan ng Samahang Plaridel forum in Manila.
