Webster winners raised new hope of surviving drop
Burton Mail
|June 13, 2025
It's the time of year, as we wait for things to happen, when we take a look back at how the season just ended panned out, month by month. And even by Burton Albion's standards it was a roller-coaster, as the club set out with high expectations, fell into trouble and eventually escaped relegation with a game to spare. By the end of January, after three wins in a row, there was a glimmer of hope...
FEBRUARY
The month began with a dull goalless draw away to Barnsley but it was not dull behind the scenes as Alex Bannon, Billy Bodin, Ben Whitfield, Jack Cooper-Love and Danilo Orsi all followed Elliot Watt out on loan.
Through the in door came the versatile Kyren Lofthouse on loan, days after playing for Barnsley against the Brewers.
Rumarn Burrell was on target again at home to Blackpool but it felt a real kick in the teeth Albie Morgan equalised for the visitors in the 94th minute.
Then, although Fabio Tavares scored a late equaliser, injuring himself in the process, two even later goals gave Bristol Rovers a 3-1 win at home. They had been looking like one of the teams Burton might be able to catch, so it again felt pivotal.
