Seven shine brightly as Northern stars compete

SEVEN Burton Athletes travelled to York to represent Derbyshire in the Judith Temperton Northern Inter-County Championship for under-15s and under-17s.

It was a good chance for the top Derbyshire athletes to test them selves against the best in the North.
After warm weather it was a windy and wet York which con fronted the athletes - not ideal for those looking for new bests.
Jessica Upton was first to com pete in the under-15 girls' long jump, taking fifth with 4.58 to fin ish the top Derbyshire girl by a centimetre in swirling windy con ditions.
Amelia Nettleton was first in action in the under-17 women’s 3km.
She tried to go with the early pace but struggled before finish ing well to take fourth in 11.29.93.
