Lower end battle was likely for U's

BURTON Albion meet Cambridge United today at the Pirelli Stadium (3pm) in a League One relegation battle.

Journalist Liam Apicella of the Cambridge Independent gave an insight into the U's for the Brewers’ website, answering these questions.

■Cambridge find themselves five points from safety with two games left to play, was this how you expected things to go at the start of the campaign?

LA: Having flirted dangerously close with relegation in the previous two seasons, I don't think anybody expected anything less than Cambridge to be battling at the lower end of the table. But I thought they would be able to keep their heads above water and that is almost certainly not going to be the case.

■Some experienced players with a decent pedigree came in last summer, but for a number of reasons it hasn't worked out.

LA: Garry Monk came in with 11 games to go last season and it was all about staying up, which was achieved.
