FORWARD THRILLED TO HIT WINNER AFTER TOUGH TIME

- By RICHARD GARNETT

SURELY no man will have left Pride Park Stadium on Tuesday evening happier than Lars-Jorgen Salvesen after the Norwegian forward put a lengthy injury absence behind him by scoring the winning goal in Derby County's 2-1 win against Hull City.

Carlton Morris gave the Rams a first-half lead with his fifth strike in three matches, before Joel Ndala restored parity five minutes after the break.

But it was substitute Salvesen who stole the headlines, pouncing on a howler from Tigers goalkeeper Ivor Pandur to stroke home the winning goal in the 83rd minute with his first two touches, extending the Rams’ winning run in the Championship to four matches.

The 29-year-old has endured a frustrating 2025 since joining the Rams in January.

A training ground knee injury required surgery and ended his season in March and he has since found opportunities to be limited, so there was little surprise when he celebrated his goal with such apparent joy.

“Its hard to explain, actually, because it’s been a tough time for me personally since the injury,” Salvesen told Rams TV.
