JOHN Eustace said Derby County need to be "braver and better" in possession after they came from behind to hold Charlton Athletic to a 1-1 draw at Pride Park Stadium.

- By LEIGH CURTIS

Matt Clarke came to Derby's rescue when he headed in a Lewis Travis cross in the second half after James Bree had given the visitors the lead.

Derby are still searching for their first home League win of the season and Eustace said they could feel the anxiety in the stands after the visitors went ahead.

"I thought, in the second half we were good and, in the first, I thought we started really well," he said.

"We obviously went a goal down against the run of play and it was poor defending on our part.

"When you haven't won at home yet, in the four previous games, I think, obviously, there is a lot of tension and pressure then.

"That's what happens when you work for a top club and there are 30,000 fans here expecting you to win. It's all part of the process.

"We have to be braver and better on the ball. We have to defend better. Championship games are always won with really tight margins.

"We just gave a soft goal away and that brought a lot of tension and pressure to the group.

"The way we went about our business in the second half was pleasing and we created a couple of really good chances."
