Gresley impress on the road to bank spoils

GRESLEY Rovers travelled to Melton Town and completed a double against the home side.

After beating Town at the end of July 2-1 at the Moat Ground they put on a solid display to win by three goals scored by Liam Kavanagh from a penalty, Will Mansfield and Chris Acott.

On a drizzly, miserable afternoon Rovers started brightly on the 3G surface with Louie Jarvis firing over the bar.

Town came back and were awarded a free-kick just outside the area, but Rovers defended well and the danger was averted.

Unfortunately, Macauley Holmes collected a hefty kick to his calf giving away the free kick. He tried to carry on but the injury could not be shaken off by the defender and was replaced on 21 minutes by Harrison Smith.
