Ex-Albion striker Burrell on target for QPR ahead of trip to Pride Park
Burton Mail
|October 24, 2025
FORMER Burton Albion striker Rumarn Burrell fired Queens Park Rangers to a 1-0 away win against Swansea City ahead of their trip to face Derby County tomorrow.
-
Burrell, who made the switch to QPR from the Brewers in the summer, struck in the 18th minute against the Swans, who finished with 10 men after midfielder Malick Yalcoye was dismissed in the 34th minute after squaring up with defender Steve Cook, who hit the deck after the Brighton & Hove Albion loanee leaned in with his forehead.
The only goal came when Burrell latched on to Isaac Hayden's chipped cross to clip a volley past goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux.
QPR have lost only one of their last eight matches and sit eighth in the Championship table going into tomorrow's game at Pride Park Stadium (3pm).
And manager Julien Stephan said: “I am very happy with the win and especially how we managed to control the second half without the ball.
“It was not perfect because it would be perfect if we scored the second or third goal.
“It’s just a question of efficiency to kill the opponent - and we didn’t do that.
“It’s a good win for us. But in this kind of game you never know at the end what can happen when you stay at 1-0 the last five minutes.”
