Bus route improvements aim to 'keep residents connected'

A REVAMPED bus service is coming to North West Leicestershire this summer.

It is hoped the new service, launching in mid-July, will better connect new developments to local tourist attractions, such as Twycross Zoo and 1620s House.

From July 14 for a month, free journeys will also be available on a new bookable bus called FoxConnect.

Leicestershire County Council has made the improvements as part of its review of supported bus services, which have been partly funded by the Government.

A drop-in event is being held at Ashby Library on Friday for residents who want to know more about new options in person.

Councillor Charles Whitford, cabinet member for highways, transport and waste, said: "Whether it's commuting, getting to health appointments, shopping or travelling to leisure facilities, it's vital to help our residents stay connected.
