Beesley signing looks like quite a statement of intent by Brewers

THE arrival of striker Jake Beesley from Blackpool can be seen as something of a statement of intent from Burton Albion.

- By COLSTON CRAWFORD

The experienced 28-year-old has arrived for an undisclosed fee - Blackpool had activated an extension to his contract when they released their retained list at the end of last season.

For the Brewers, Beesley signs a two-year deal with an optional one-year extension.

Although he has played for two of the clubs Burton boss Gary Bowyer has managed - the other being Salford City - the pair did not overlap.

Bowyer, however, as we would expect, has watched him closely, not least when he was commentating on Blackpool for the BBC while out of work, and knows what to expect.

"I'm delighted to get Jake to join us," said Bowyer.

"From the very first conversation I had with him I was really impressed with him as a person and his desire to come and join us.

"I have watched him a lot over the last two years. He's a player with great physical presence, real intelligence in his movement and a strong work ethic - exactly the kind of character we want in our dressing room.
