WEPL Worgan's rapid 73 guides Thornbury to win against Downend

JACK Worgan plundered 73 from only 48 balls to transform Thornbury's innings and pave the way for a 34-run home victory in WEPL Premier One over fellow newcomers Downend.
Worgan and number ten Harry Donelan came together with the score at an unpromising 230-8 in the 32nd over, but combined superbly to add another hundred runs which proved to be conclusive in the final analysis.
Worgan cracked nine fours and three sixes, while Donelan was unbeaten on 36 after skipper Harry Thomas had earlier struck 66 from 43 in his side's challenge of 335.
Izatullah Stankzai finished with 4-57 from seven overs for Downend, whose reply got off to a fine start with an opening stand of 136 between Cyrus Shafi (51) and Maz Khan.
