WEPL Twyford House on the up after victory over Bristol 2nds

TWYFORD House clinched promotion to WEPL's second tier for the first time in their history on a day of drizzle and drama across the region.

Rain, as widely forecast, arrived to decimate the final league weekend of the summer, forcing the great majority of matches to be abandoned with play in many cases possible for only a couple of hours. But conditions eased sufficiently for there to be two finishes in the Bristol & North Somerset division, and both results were of crucial importance to the top and bottom of the table.

Twyford, who began the day in third place, clinched an eight-wicket home victory in between downpours over relegated Bristol 2nds to move into pole position.

At the same time, however, Brislington - nine points clear at the top before a ball was bowled - were still in action, away to Bristol Pakistanis.
